Netscape and Firefox cannot seem to find/interpret/display the CSS file for a site of mine. This was my first 'pro' site that went live over 18 months ago. It was built with a mix of tables and CSS and everything worked fine when I was testing using Netscape 6.x so long ago.

Even stranger, when I open the html pages on my hard drive using Netscape or Firefox, they find and display the css perfectly. I'm using relative links and the file structures on my hard drive and the servier are exactly the same.

The css displays fine in IE 6 (Windows) , Safari and IE 5 (Mac).

I'm linking to an external style sheet using the code:

<link href="css/style.css" rel="stylesheet" media="all" type="text/css" />

The site thats giving me this problem is:
http://www.proactive-response.com

Any help or advice will be greatfully appreciated.

I can't see anything wrong with the syntax. Try changing the name of the style.css file to pastyle.css. It might be that those browsers don't like the filename being a 'reserved' word. You could also try moving the css file out into the same directory as the HTML so the link would be just "pastyle.css".

The W3C Validator is complaining about an encoding issue but I don't think that is the problem.

Thanks Joe, I'll try your suggestions. It's strange because I use exactly the same file name and file stucture on a different site and the css displays fine. Maybe it is that encoding issue afterall...

OK ... so I've tried renaming the css file, moving the css file into the same folder as the html pages and I've tried removing the conflicting text encoding. Netscape is still the same - no css.

Any other ideas greatfully appreciated.
