Hi everyone,
I recently completed a website www.petercareydesign.com

Anyone know why my images look poor on the PC using Internet Explorer, but look great on the Mac when viewed in browsers Safari of Firefox?

I've only resized images directly in Dreamweaver 8 when an image needed to be reduced not enlarged. Could that be the problem? I thought that it would be ok to reduce an image in directly in Dreammweaver application. Any image I needed to enlarge I did did so in Photoshop with original file.

I've spoken with a number of colleagues who are viewing my site on their own PC computers and they all say images look poor in Internet Explorer.

Thanks for your help.

Never change the size of an image in Dreamweaver.
Do ALL your resizing in a graphic application.
When you resize in dreamweaver (or any HTML editor), you are not really resizing the image but only telling the browser to use only so much space for the image. This can lead to very poor looking graphics as you have found out.

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, why do images look fine in Mac browsers Safari and Firefox?

Also, is it a bad idea to reopen an image that I had previously worked on and then saved as "Save for web/gif format" in photoshop? Should I always go back to my original photoshop file and resave from that?

Safari & Firefox renders images differently than IE.

It is only a bad idea to re-open an image in a non-lossless file format such as jpg. GIF is fine as it is the full file and does not compress the image.
I do recommend however making changes to your file in the original format (PSD) then save for web as this will ensure good quality images .
