Are you talking about a 640 x 480 screen or a 1600 x 1280 screen or something in-between. There are many different screen sizes and the area left for image display in every browser is different too. What toolbars are present? Are there tab bars at the side? Is it a PC or a Mac?

It's not what you see on your screen that counts, unless you are the only person that is going to visit the page.

So, when you talk about filling a screen with an imagemap you are not being realistic. Also, a page with an image that big is going to take a long time to load.

Have a look around the web. I don't think you will find anybody attempting to do what you are suggesting - and for very good reasons.

Hey

You could open the image map in a popup window. This would allow you to specify the size of the window to match the size of the image. You can also disable scrollbars and toolbars, so that only the imagemap appears in the window.

There are disadvantages to this method though, as you would be taking the user away from your homepage, and many users hate popups!

Hope this helps

Dave

To avoid those white gaps at the top and left, make sure to include the code leftmargin=0 and topmargin=0 within the body tag of your HTML page.

Example below.

No White Space!

Content goes here!
