Graphics: Rounded tables that aren't images?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to get a rounded
rectangular table onto a page in html format?
If I do a gif or jpg in Photoshop then the text
is lousy plus it takes a long time to load.
I hand code my html, is that the problem? Is that
maybe a function of some software, like
Dreamweaver?
I have the url of an example of what I'm talking
about but it's not mine, so I don't know if it's alright
to post it. But if it is okay, I'll be happy to provide it...
Thanks!
Kelly

you can do that by making a table with 3 rows and three columns.
the top and bottom rows are very thin, as are the left and right-most columns.
the four cells on the corners are filled with quarter-round corner images.
The other four cells on the outside edges are straight -- but they might optimally be made expandable by making them background images instead of ordinary image.
The center cell of course is filled with ordinary text.

Thank you!
I did a rudimentary version of that with big, fat
corners to start with, but now I have a stupid question.

Sometimes I can get rid of the white space between
cells and sometimes not. I thought it was about
cellspacing=0 but that's not working.
Can someone tell me what I'm missing?
Thx,
Kelly

You'll be able to do it with CSS 3 I believe but its not implimented yet.
Layers that are curvy objects.... and not squares...
until then you use tables with little corner piece images that are curved....CSS 3
just make a rectangle with curved corners in photoshop and use the slices tool on the corners--make them the same size though--make everything minus the corners text only space with color then export for web.
