I am trying to locate a Freeware program that I can use to add watermarks to pictures.

I am doing some work for the local maritime museum which is run by volunteers.  I need to mark the pictures of the old sailing ships to prevent them being stolen.

Anyone got any suggestions?.

Followed the link only to end up at an Amazon page for a Corel product No longer available.  Must have been subject of a buy out.  Anyhow, thanks for the try.

I looked at your post and then did a quick google search and came up with this nice tutorial which shows how to watermark with CSS and PNG images, click here for the tutorial .

One important note to remember that is in the tutorial comments, is that anybody with real HTML knowledge could figure out how to overcome this, but they have to realize that it's in the HTML in the first place (read the tutorial comments for more on what I'm talking about).

A great freeware photo editor that I use is Paint.Net. I also believe their was someway to watermark pictures via javascript, but I could be very wrong, but just do a search on google or yahoo (or better, both!). Make sure it's not "Web Page Watermarks". Web Page Watermarks are those tacky images that stay at a certain spot as you scroll down.
