Hello everybody.

Do you know if it is possible to put links on a background image?

Take a look at this page:

On the upper right side you will see two menu bars and in between them an image that is set as background-image.

I would like to map that image and put a different link to each icon.

Is that possible?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards from sunny Lima

What you need to do is put a transparent gif in front of it and then add the image map to the transparent gif.

Why not just slice the image into pieces?

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately I can't use any.

The image is set as background because on the front is the drop-down menu.

But you can have as many layers as you like, not just background and foreground. The banner ad at the top of this page is an absolutely positioned layer on top of everything else. You could have a div with a clear gif in it sitting on top of the images you want to make into an imagemap and it won't interfere with the the menus.

Either of these ideas would work. The transparent gif is a nice solution, except personally, I don't like image maps. So, take the dropdown and all into photoshop, slice it up, put it back together on the page.

OR, just slice up the background image, put it back together on the page in one layer, and put layer the dropdown on top of it. That'd work nicely, too.

You know, Sim City Societies had a lot of potential, it was a great concept that was horribly developed and lacked any kind of depth. The idea of individualize buildings functioning independently playing its role in a largely diverse and thriving city.

The new Sim City appears to be the classic Sim City gameplay we saw with SC4, combined with a far better developed version of the Societies concepts. Looking great guys, don't let us down.
