I'm working on a bulletin board dealie and I'm really tired of the standard BB look. What I'd like to see are some sites that take the interactive architecture of BBs, blog comments, whatever, and present it in an original, aesthetically pleasing manner.
Since this is web design for designers, I figured maybe somebody here might have seen something that caught their eye.
Anyone have any sites they could point out?

Yes they all look much the same. I chose this board on the promise that its next version would be 100% valid and CSS driven. The next version is still in alpha or beta after more than a year. I certainly haven't found any other board software (that doesn't cost an arm and leg) that produces valid HTML and lets you tweak the CSS more than doing a few colour swaps.

I'm willing to hack the thing senseless to get what I want... I guess I'm just looking for ideas.... Has ANYONE rethought the visual layout of posts/comments/whatever?
