I had an idea for a site, so I made it over the past week or so, it's got a few glitches, but that's mostly...or allly angelfire's fault. If it weren't for angelfire, it would be valid strict XHTML! Anyway, I think it's pretty cool, pretty sparse right now, but..yeah.. Be sure to look at all the pages. Wow, i can't believe this is the first time I've posted here..that can't be right...

www.angelfire.com/d20/pwernizor

www.angelfire.com/d20/pwernizor

Looks fine to me. Some of the background images are a little too bright and interfere with the readability of the text.

I would suggest fixing the background image so that the text scrolls but the background doesn't, as I have here (look at the source).

Yeah, I'm going to change the colors a bit. I experimented with the fixed background image, but my friend on dial-up said that it made everything a lot slower. Scrolling lags a bit even on my broadband connection with the fixed BG image, so I think I'll keep it the way it is...but...It does look cool fixed...idk. Oh, by the way, I got the idea for the background images from that pixelmaps site. I like the idea of really small gif files that still look good. In my case, in photoshop, I used trace contour on the image, and then threshhold, and then made a gif so the 2 colors were the foreground color and transparent. It works really well on images with just a white background.

I agree on the fixed images. If you do it well, lag time should be minimal, at best.
Personally, I really want your font to be a pixel bigger.

Whatever your popup is, I'll never see it, so that's a waste fo time.

By buying everyone a faster video card or a computer that doesn't rely on the processor for video processing. The lag is nothing to do with the Web or how it is delivered, it is a a function of the individual computer's video processing efficiency - hey, we're talking whole milliseconds here!

If you get rid of the padding and use something else to create the spacing (ie margin) the look will be more consistent.
