Hi all,

I am new to this forum but I was wondering if any of you can offer any suggestions about how I can improve the SEO on my new website.

I am trying to set up my own freelance web design business and I have developed my site on the following URL:

http://www.about-website-design.com

I have done some basic SEO work using articles that I have read in forums on the net and am wondering how good the SEO actually is on my site! Can anyone offer any comments or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Stu.

Neither your page nor CSS validate because you are not terminating for XHTML correctly. Your page is broken in Mozilla, the text at the top overlaps.

For best SEO results, your markup needs to be clean, it should have a good semantic structure, meta tags are little used nowadays, Google indexes content, not meta tags.

Even when you get all these things correct, it still comes down to your link popularity. You gotta get off-site links from high traffic sites!

I sometimes use the IBP software to compare websites against competiting sites. It's worth the outlay to buy it and is very useful to help you optimise websites.

You need to first choose the right keywords that match your service or product. Then concentrate on that keyword. After choosing try to make ready the content based on the concept keyword density and keyword Optimization.

Once everything is ready start posting your site information on search engine, directories, Forums, Blogs...

You can also write articles about your website and post it on article directories.

Hello Stuartm,
i have checked your site; i think you can include one or two keywords in the title. When interlinking the pages of your website, try to include your keywords as anchors. In meta description and keywords section, try to include your keywords but don't try to stuff the keywords.
Thank You.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is part art, part science. Don't let the term confuse you. SEO is simply the mechanics and tools of helping seekers find your business site via search engines like Yahoo or Google. They also find you via other sites and blogs and building relationships in social media land helps also.

You have to start from the very basics here. Your meta tags are not in place to really optimize your website.

You need to put the right keywords, description, etc. Also, the meta title needs work.
