Hi guys,

I have looking at the links that link back to my website from various search engines and I can't understand something. Google, is the best search engine, but it only shows that 4 sites link back to mine... I have at least 50 different sites pointing back to my site and other search engines pick that info up except Google. Even my own company website doesn't come up in the linkback list provided be Google and I have placed the link there personally 2 years ago!!!

Do you know why this is happening? Is there something that I can do to help boost by linkbacks in Google SERP?

Cheers to all!

try to use this site : http://www.blend-you.com
it has an orange icon on the right-bottom corner of the page. click on that and enter your url. it'll show you some useful infos about the required site (google, alexa backlinks , etc.)

I found the same problem as you with Google. When I want to check backlinks I use Firefox as my browser with the Smart Page Rank toolbar installed. One of the tools it gives you in the toolbar takes you to a backlinks checker which will let you look at other website's backlinks too.

It's better to use Yahoo to find the backlinks as Google and MSN doesn't show all of them (the reason is still unknown to us). Would be nice if someone could help find the reason.

Meanwhile, if you have any web design or development requirements, visit

Hey There,
The best way to see backlinks to your site is ultimately Google Web Master Tools. This free service from Google will allow you to view so much data that half the time you couldn't care less, but there is significant data that shows you what links go to any page in your site and you can print this out to go over on a flight or on a long road trip. I have been using the service for about 3 years now and I swear by it for all my clients. This an Google Analytics will give you everything you ever need to know about demographic and links to and from your site.

By the way, they also have a What Google See's mode, which allows you to see how your page looks to Google, this helps in deciding next steps in SEO campaigns and for your own internal marketing efforts.

Cheers,

Google Webmaster Tools is a wonderful resource for all site owners. It’s designed to inform webmasters about how Google bot is interacting with their website. In the Links area you can find out who is linking to you, and your internal linking structure. All information is downloadable and very handy.

Well google and msn will not show all of your links. The reasoning: they don't want to give away your secrets. If you use webmaster tools, than you can view all of your back links that google counts. We all know that back links make up one part of the page rank system, therefore google likes to protect some of your hard work while yahoo will release your information to your competitors.

Google simply does not want to give too much information away that might aid those who wish to improve rankings. As a result, the number of backlinks revealed by Google is often dramatically less than there actually are. This does not mean that Google has not seen the backlinks to your site, but merely that it has chosen not to reveal these backlinks.

when backlinks do show up on Google they are often from only the highest quality sites; those that are already considered credible themselves and are undeniably relevant to the linked website.
