There will be lots of angry Dreamweaver users out there if Adobe do decide to discontinue support for it. It's happened before, though: Apple discontined Logic for the PC after they bought out EMagic. That hurt a lot of people in the music industry, who were forced to either stay where they were, buy new Macs or crossgrade to rival Cubase.

I would expect Fireworks to be stripped of it's more photoshop-like features and continue on as a web-oriented app... probably replacing image ready... or else the fireworks features will be rolled into imageready and then fireworks phased out.

Freehand is a goner.

I think that there probably is a place for them both. The demands of 'developers' and 'designers' are quite different. On the other hand, I wouldn't use *either* of them.

ImageReady is going anyway, it's being rolled into Photoshop.

Firewords is more likely to be rolled into Elements.

As far as REAL news goes, Adobe won't be announcing any future plans until autumn (Fall) because the deal doesn't officially go through until then.
