I am not tech savvy or Dreamweaver savvy. I have sufficient skills in html to design pages and upload and minor error fixes.

------------------------------------------

About a month ago upgraded to the following:

OSX 10.4.11 Tiger

Dreamweaver MX 2004

Netscape Navigator 9

--------------------------------------

Since 2002, had been operating with:

OSX Panther

Dreamweaver 2002

Browser: Netscape 7.2

------------------------------------------

Issue:

1. MX 2004 will not allow me to upload or download pages.

2. Regardless of which browser program I install, I keep getting the same error message, such as this: "The align attribute is not supported by ------ Internet Browser."

Solutions attempted:

1. Set browser in preferences to one being used. - still get error message.

2. In settings, switch to browser in use. - still get error message.

3. Install and tried numerous browsers and versions thereof.

back to Netscape 7.2 - still get error message

Entourage - still get error message

Safari - still get error message

Firefox - still get error message

In Dreamweaver preferences under validator, make sure only HTML 4 is checked off.

What error message are you getting on your upload/download attempts??

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the tip.

I went into preferences and unmarked the default settings, except for html. Now, there are no browser error messages.

I never received an error message for put/get files, because the programs will not allow me to perform that function because those commands are grayed out.

Also, I am unable to get this 2004 version to show the local and remote files, so, I am unable to drag and drop to upload files.

The site manager will only show the remote files, however, it will not allow me to download.

When you upgraded from 2002 to 2004, did you import your site files, or did you renter them from scratch.
Import sometimes messes up, so go into your site manager and make sure everything is set up properly.
Other than that I am at a loss as to why it would not at least show local files. Maybe time to call Adobe...

I normally use a separate FTP program for all my transfers anyway.

Don't know what either of those terms mean.

I saved the 2002 format local files to DVD disk. Zeroed out Mac then installed Tiger and then the 2004 versions of all programs.

I opened Dreamweaver 2004 and from there open a document to work on it, save, and then upload.

Here's the paradox, I have three web sites. This issue is only occurring on one site. The other two, I have been able to function normally.

This other site, the document looks normal on my computer, but the only way I am able to upload is to go up to the file menu and drop down to the Save to Remote Server.

What appears on the internet is the page minus the art.

I did contact Adobe and they said look at this and look at that, and when they were done, I walked away scratching my head still not sure what they were talking about.

So, I'm playing with it to figure out the issue is. I still have much to learn, mostly industry jargon.

Thanks.

In the file menu across the top of Dreamweaver you should have a drop down called Site or Sites. Under that menu is an option to "manage sites". How many sites do you have listed there. 2 or 3 ??
There is also on option to "export". This export does not export your entire site but only the site management settings. This is so if you upgrade, you can import all your site settings without having to re-enter all the info.

It's like being able to conjure-up a magic spell. All that power!!! I like most of the work. What I don't like is dealing with clients' whims and Explorer's foibles.
