The importance of presence in the Dot Com world has increased in leaps and bounds in the few recent years. This has amounted into the rise of websites in the web world and thereby also raising the market competition to a much huge platform. This has resulted into pressuring the online businessmen to hold an upper hand by building an attractive website. It is an established fact now that content is the king and it is one of the important factors that can bring in online business, but is that all! Can plain content alone bring the required targeted audience or web design that is visually appealing can wrought wonders! Let’s explore into this dubious nature of world of web business.
Website Design vs. Website Content:
Website designing is a complex procedure which involves specific details right from the objective behind building a website to determining the target audience. Website design includes the visual interface design and the layout of web pages. The set pattern for any website is the building of common web pages such as home page, product page, about us page, contact us page etc. However, the web page layouts are pretty different in different websites. This is where designing power of the web designer makes an impact.
Content seems to just a vital element in the website that can provide all the information. But it becomes necessary that the content is written according to the website design as it is not always that all the content can fit into the allotted space on the website. Therefore, the significant thing to observe here is that visual appeal of the website matters a lot from the audience perspective and that a visitor will read the content of the website if only he/she finds the design of the website attractive.
It is the website content that begins its work after the design of the website has compelled the visitor to stay and read on more on the business. The website content hence encourages the target audience to stick to the website and this is primarily the reason for it being treated as the King. The website content has very small or limited role to play when the websites deals with small business but when dealing with large websites, content plays a very crucial role. In the larger websites, there are plenty of business details that needs to be explained in the lucid manner, this can be done only through the content and not really designing.
Hence, it can be concluded that when the website deals with a single product or is of a small business then content does play a major role. However, that does not mean that content is to be ignored as it is the content that will fetch you high rankings on search engines, It plays limited role till where the target audience are concerned. But, with larger business websites, content takes over the designing part and gives specific details in accordance to the request of the user.

The question Website Design vs. Website Content itself is inappropriate. As both Design and Content are essential for a website and they are just like two parts of same coin .Whats use of the website if there is no content in it and vice versa

Both are equally important. Both complementing each other. In SEO perspective both design and content palying the similar role. Few design issues are important for SEO , like Table less design(use div tag), no HTML error, Image tage "alt" attribute should not be empty, size of the page should be less than 40kb, less use of FRAME, lesser use of Java script, no java script in Header Tag etc. On the other hand content shuld be fresh and unique. They must be written in simple and understandbale language. Content sould not be keywrod stuffing etc. If design is not impressive people will not be interested to stay or navigate pages. If content is not good but design is good the purpose of website will not be fulfiled . I am redesigning my website named custom web design and i will give equal importance to both of them.

I don't understand where the idea of a distinction, or "Vs", between the two comes from. The 2 facets of design and content should compliment each other and should never conflict - if they do then your are approach web design leaves a lot to be desired.
In fact, this applies to all the disciplines that contribute towards creating a great website: strategy, design, development, copywriting, usability and information architecture. There is no trade off between one or the other, no balance that needs to be found. All of these aspects should work in harmony for a website to be effective. Any good web designer could tell you that. ![]()

If you're looking to collect information from your users, there isn't a much easier or more straightforward method than a Web form. If designed well, Web forms provide valuable information; if not, they may scare users away. With this in mind, here are a few key tenets of Web form design that every designer should know. All the examples in this article were created with CoffeeCup Web Form Builder

Website content is the majority aspect of a website. Design for me is for the first impression purpose.

I'll add that quality content really makes the difference. Simple as well, google generally tends to avoid flash designs. I love reading so I usually will have no trouble with bringing in great things for others to enjoy.

You need not to sacrifice a quality design to have a good content and vice versa. These two things are important to have a successful website.

Both design and content must and always take a balance. And do not forget to consider your "goals" in coming up a website since these will greatly affect how you will sketch your design and outline your content.
