I can think of another glaring mistake when focusing on beauty first. Its like art, the piece might be beautiful to those well versed in it, however, for most the message can be lost.
Websites should be usable for those of different age categories...not just the under 30 crowd. The 30+ are just as important.
Websites should also be fast. Less than 3 seconds to load the main content/css.

Another thing to consider when picking color schemes is that if you pick text and background colors of the same value then people who have color-blindness (which is a surprisingly large number of the population) won't be able to read your page properly.

Useful points, for me a good website must be plain and simple. Because excess of anything is bad. A website home page should be table less and home page file size must be less 40k . Flash may be used but must take Seo precaution.
Web design should be like " Love at first sight "

I agree. A simple website looks descent. Having too much adds looks like disaster. Sometimes I'm confused with some sites like that.

I think too many ads is probably the biggest one at the moment. I also usually don't like flash intros at all (I guess it depends on the type of website, a movie website would be acceptable).

2. Make the content scannable.
3. Do not use fancy fonts that are unreadable.
4. Do not resize the user’s browser windows.
5. Never subscribe the visitor for something without his consent.

7. Do not clutter your website with badges.
8. Do not use blinking text.
9. Avoid complex URL structures.

The important thing is there must be a balance between the website design and the message/idea of the web content. For that, a website can communicate well with its users

The main point to consider when designing a successful website that already has traffic that you want to convert in sales leads is: KISS - which means Keep It Simple Stupid - the simple the website the better as they are easier to follow. And of course do a bright easily found call to action of some sort! That's it!

1. Another carnal sin of a website is that having an outdated information on your website. If you are not updating the website then you may be upsetting the visitors of your site.
2. The poor design with the white text on black backgrounds and the flashing texts and the week fonts which you are using and the blinking logos, these all scream unprofessional. In a simple word the ugly website gets a very ugly result.
3. The another main mistake is that the Grammar mistakes and the misspellings. I will always recommend that you read your articles loudly so you will hear sentences that are not sounding in a right way.
